IPS screens have better colors and wider viewing angle than TN LED or TFT LCD, its more suitable for console gamers. Plus that LG has 3D. I think that 42 is more than enough for a 1080p TV, a 50" FHD wouldnt have a good feel when it comes to the resolution.
