Hey everyone! I'm really looking at upgrading my monitor to catch up with my current PC, and I was wondering what you guys thought.

My current PC specs:
i7 7700k
Asus STRIX GTX 1080
16gb g-skill ram

I love playing games like Rocket League and League of Legends, but also more graphically demanding games like The Witcher 3, Battlefield, and Doom. Unfortunately I'm really not getting the most out of my setup as I'm just running 2 LG 1080p, 60hz monitors side-by-side.

Ideally, I would like to use a 34" ultrawide, 3440x1440p, g-sync, high refresh rate monitor. However, I'm not quite sure if my PC is powerful enough to run games at a high enough frame rate to take advantage of 100+hz due to the already high resolution.

So my question to you guys becomes, would you prioritize the curved, ultrawide experience and settle for either A.) a lower refresh rate or B.) a lower resolution? Or would you leave that in favor of a 27" 1440p, 144hz monitor?

Here are a few examples of the differences I'm talking about!

From the looks of it, you play rocket league and LoL more often than the graphically intense games, so I would try to prioritize your FPS. Also, many games aren’t really fully optimized for ultrawide. If that were the case and you got the ultrawide, you’d see a big black bar on the sides. In my opinion, I’d go with the flat, not ultrawide route. Although if you’re ok with black bars, the ultrawide definitely suits the gtx 1080 better. But you should be getting at least 1440p. 1080 is overkill for 1080p (heh, kinda ironic)
