Looking through Newegg, I noticed there are a bunch of types of R9 380's and R9 380X's. Which is the best one? I'm looking for high performance gaming for under $250.
Blows the 380 out of the water, no contest. It also is damn near $200, if Total War: Warhammer was on your radar anyway.
IMO hands down the best value card you can buy right now, with a lifetime warranty.
btw, that 390 (and all of the other 390s) are above 250 dollars without any mail-in rebates. Not even close to 200 dollars
Unless you wanted Total War: Warhammer. Then it is one of the best deals in history, a $200 card that would blow the 380x away.
Even at FULL price, His budget is $250, and when you consider that the 380x no less than 30% slower (usually closer to 40%) for what amounts to be maybe 10% more money? it is a no brainier. By far the best choice is the R9 390.
and there is a new amd gpu priced at around 250. It's the rx 480. By the looks of it, the rx 480 has a really good price to performance ratio. The thing is newegg is running out of stock for the rx 480s, so you might as well wait if you wanted to get it.
These are my two choices. I checked the Powercolor out but both of these have better core clocks and memory clock speeds. Does that mean anything?
if the number differences are not really different, usually it doesn't matter too much. as for the two gpus, the r9 380 is better than the 960 in games, but the 960 has a better price/performance ratio and is more silent
the brand of the card doesn't matter much (excluding vamery)
honestly, the cheapest r9 380 will do. but what do you want your card to be? quiet? cool? good looking? then that's your choice.
for under $200 however, you're looking at a used gtx 780 from ebay which performs better than r9 380.... but it's your choice
