forevermanfred,

There are 3 monitors. The PG279Q is a new 1440p IPS Swift, the PG27AQ is the 4k 60 Hz GSync Swift, and the PG348Q is a 1440p Ultrawide GSync monitor. So you have a pretty wide choice (no pun intended).

Are you an Nvidia or AMD user?

The ASUS PG348Q and the Acer Predator XR341CKA are coming out late this year/early next and are probably the best Ultrawide monitor you'll get if you like Nvidia, as they both come with G-SYNC and 100 Hz refresh rates.

The Acer XR341CK (No A on the end) is a 34" 75 Hz ultrawide IPS FreeSync compatible monitor if you're an AMD user

I have a Nvidia GPU.

Also isn't ASUS supposed to release a new ROG Swift or am I making that up?

Not making that up. It's called the PG279Q and it's an IPS, 2560x1440p, 4ms 165 Hz monitor. It doesn't have 3D Vision, but still has ULMB.

The info about that is here:

http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/asus-rog-swift-pg279q-pricing-and-specs.html

Price is in pounds, but when the ROG Swift came to the states the first time, it was $749 too, not converted from £749.99

I have a GTX 970, I heard that monitor is 4k so obviously to much for it. I was thinking of upgrading to the 980ti next year. Should I get the new ROG (when it comes out)?

I've bought LG 29UM67-P lately and I am very satisfied with it. Even though it has Freesync you can enable it with Nvidia cards while connecting them through display port. Freesync enabled 75Hz for me so right now for instance I am playing Diablo 3 or Witcher 3 and they somehow feel more fluid. As a trivia when I notice that the games I play stop being smooth then they are usually at 63-64FPS which means that it's either a barrier for me to take notice or my eye started to acommodate to 60Hz and more. I've got GTX 770 4GB and will upgrade to 3440x1440 with a new card next year or two.

You can get up to 75 Hz, yes, but you do not get the advantages of adaptive refresh rate, unfortunately. Nvidia has no driver support for Adaptive Sync (or FreeSync, as AMD calls it) as it stands right now.

75 Hz will look more fluid than 60 Hz, especially the closer you are to 75 FPS, but by no means are you getting any of the adaptive-sync benefits from the monitor using an Nvidia card. It's definitely a great suggestion if you are unwilling to pay the premium that comes from the G-Sync kit being in the monitor, though.
