Hi all,
Here are my specs:
x270 FTWK motherboard
i5 7600k 3.8ghz (sucessfully oc'd to 4.8ghz stable)
EVGA GTX 1070 FTW2
16 GB DDR4 (oc'd to 3200mhz)
960 EVO 256gb SSD
3 TB HDD
I game on a 32 inch, 2k resolution monitor with 165 mhz refresh rate. Right now, I'm pulling anywhere from 80-120 fps on this monitor in most high-end games. I'm very happy with this, but I wouldn't mind maximizing the utility of this monitor (140+fps at all times).
While observing my components in game, my CPU is only averaging 50% load, while my GPU is averaging 100% load. Considering my overclock, I'm wondering what I could get away with as far as a GPU upgrade without bottle-necking. I've been looking at a RTX 2080 Super or RTX 2080ti but am not sure I want to upgrade my CPU if it can't handle it.
I do understand that my setup is pretty good, and I'm very happy with it. The reality is that I don't want to replace much for a lot longer if I don't have to. But I don't want to feel like I'm "wasting" potential visuals that this monitor can deliver to me on a 2k resolution. Would love to hear some thoughts and opinions.
Thank you
