Best upgrade for an i5 2400?

Video card is an R9 270 and the system has 8GB of RAM (but I am considering upgrading to 16GB). What's a good upgrade for this CPU. Will be using the system for video editing and gaming.

Guess you are looking for budget variant, so ryzen 5 1600 with 6C/12T will give u best performance/$ for editing and gaming.
Intel i7 would be better specially for gaming but will cost u 100$ extra.

I would suggest going with a Ivy Bridge i7 or Xeon, they are fairly cheap used. This way you don't have to get a new motherboard and RAM. But if you don't mind spending more, Ryzen 5 1600 would be better.
