Best upgrade for an old PC

Hello everyone,

I have a really old PC that I want to use for gaming. Now the games I want to play are also old or not really demanding. Think of Company of Heroes, CS:GO, LoL, and that sort of games. I can already run CoH and LoL decently on medium/high settings, but I would like to have more frames in the 'reserve' and maybe go for even higher settings. CS:GO on the other hand wildly fluctuates in framerates even on low/medium with 1024x768 and this is impairing the gameplay. My components are:

PSU: Xilence 480w
RAM: 4GB DDR2
Graphics: Asus EAH4670 1GB
Mobo: Asus P5Q SE
Processor: Core2Quad Q8200

My first choice for an upgrade would be the graphics card. However I am not sure which one at this point. I originally thought even an old 8800 GT would do some good here and there are some really cheap ones (15$), but I really don't know actually. I would really appreciate some input from more experienced people as to what they would do in order to be able to play CS:GO 😛

Thanks in advance,
Milos

The GPU is definitely what needs to be upgraded here, and to determine which card you need, look up the recommended requirements for all of the games you play make a list of all the cards the websites recommended, and but the most powerful one on the list. That way everything that uses less resources than the most intensive game you have will run better that it would on recommended hardware.
