Best upgrade path for my budget gaming rig

OKay the title basically says what i m asking, what would I be beter upgrading to get a better gaming peformance,as im a newbie and just switched over from xbox one.

CPU : A6 6400K dual core (3.9Ghz)
GPU : Asus GTX 750Ti 2GB
Ram : 12Gb of hyperx (1866mhz)
HDD : 1TB WD Blue
cpu Fan : Cooler Master EVE 212
psu : 600W non modular Corsiar CM
Case : Zelman Z11 Plus ATX case

I'm running a single monitor set up, @1920x1080p so im happy with that for now..... thanks in advanced

The GTX750Ti should be able to manage medium to high settings on most games (no AA). Depending somewhat on the games, I think you'd benefit from a stronger CPU, specifically a quad core.

i was thinking about a quad core but the only one available would be the athlon x4 865 and thats really difficult to get, amazon seem to have it one min and the next its gone and at times theres a 4 week waiting time. would it be worth switching out the motherboard and getting a fx4300 and new motherboard, i dont really fancy the a10 7850K as i dont feel that it is strong enough for the max cpu that the fm2+ boards offer. cant really afford to go for an fx61/6300 just now but at least it would be an option then to go 8350, even skipping the fx6**0 all togither and go straight for the higher end stuff. at least the options are theyre im just not sure it the athlon will hold its ground in for the next year or so, as imj going to be saving up for a new build in the next 12 months which will proberly be an i5 skylake with the highest end gpu at the time, so this is really a stop gap untill then but the A6 6400K is really not good enough for my needs, thanks for the swift replys

dont really have a budget i want to make it quiet cheap as im trying to save up for a new system within the next 12 months, so i dont want to be spending alot, when its a stop gap for a newer/better rig. thanks for your swift reply

Get a Pentium G3258 on a H97 board like the ASRock H97M Pro 4. It will blow past your current CPU, and will leave you upgrade room all the way up to an i7. It will overclock that Pentium; any chip ought to hit 4.0GHz, and many can go higher.

if im upgrading to skylake when its out, is it really worth going for the 1150 socket upgrade path, when the there will be a new socket for skylake?? im guessing when the skylake cpus come out they will be around 220 (i5) and about 320-370 (i7) higher end models, so i really dont want to be looking at 180 cpu upgrade path from the 65 pound pentium G3258. im looking for something around the 150 mark with mobo, as im really looking to push the boat out when skylake is released and hopfully get a 980 Ti with it also. Would that be your best suggestion or what, as i could easily get the pentium G3258 but will not be able to upgrade that?? thanks again

If you want to wait for Skylake, then do nothing until that comes out; hold on to your money. Keep in mind that 1.0 releases (e.g. motherboards and/or their BIOS) are not always trouble-free. Otherwise, a G3258 on a H97 board is inexpensive now while being a real upgrade over what you have, and offers a clear upgrade path later. Intel CPUs tend to disappear rather than lower in price as they are replaced, but you should be able to get a better CPU for years yet.

CPU, is your motherboard FM2 or FM2+? If it's FM2+ then you can upgrade a fair bit otherwise A10 6800K or Athlon X4 760K is as far as you can go on FM2.
