I'm looking to consolidate my flash drive collection to a single 32 or 64GB USB 3.0 stick, however I seem to be hitting all the defective and design flawed drives. Especially with SanDisk. So I'm looking for suggestions on who to deserves my money.

I'm looking for USB 3.1 gen1 (usb 3.0), that can maintain advertised read/write speeds and doesn't heat up to the point where it will burn you upon removal from the port. I am thinking Kingston since I have a couple USB 2.0 drives that still work many years later. but are just getting a bit too slow with only 10MB/s write speeds.

bolciendt,

I have had excellent experiences with PNY 256GB flash drives. I have purchased six of them, all on Ebay, for between $40 and $70 shipped. Over the year I have had them I have had no failures or dramatic speed changes and they have not run hot. Sellers in this price range include Best Buy and New Egg so you can have some confidence in the seller if you choose not to take a big Ebay risk.

No experience with any of their smaller drives though, so YMMV.

Integral pen drives have always been reliable for me.

Just be careful where you buy - - choose an established & trustworthy vendor as there are fake 32GB & 64GB pen drives in circulation - - you're unlikely to get one of those if you buy from Amazon & check the buyer reviews first, though I usually buy mine from a reputable high-street store.
