Best USB Hubs: Powered, Portable and Type-C

I am looking for a hub with 1 VGA + 1 HDMI output, and several questions in my mind.

1. Is it possible to connect to both VGA + HDMI monitors using the Hub & both active at the same time? The display set to extend mode (not duplicate mode)?

2. Since now-a-days a lot of hubs is USB type C as input, and usually our desktop doesn't have type-C port. Can I use converter such as type C to type A USB and connect to my desktop?

Any one experience before above scenario?

What is the importance of having individual power switches. Does it stop the electricity leaking out? It's very unusual to want to switch devices on and off.

Not unusual at all.

Lets say you have 3x SD or microSD cards from various cameras connected to this hub, the contents of each will be copied to different folders.
Powering up all 3 means, in Windows, 3 more drive letters appear in File Explorer.
Which is which?

Being able to enable them individually, I know which one I'm working with.

I have a 12 port, with 2 power buttons...each controls 6 ports. I do exactly that.

Did I miss how USB speed tests were performed? I would like to replicate the results.

I was hoping to see the data that was used to compare the different hubs.
Where I am seeing severe degradation in transfer speeds using USB 3 hubs is from SSD to SSD connected to the same hub.
Was any testing performed using this scenario?
Seems the more connections used the lower the speeds, how much will peripheral to peripheral transfers slow down peripheral to computer transfers.
Example, using a sabrnet USB 3 hub to transfer a 9Gb file SSD to SSD (hub port yo hub port) takes over 9 minutes, while it only takes 15 seconds to transfer to or from the computer.
Reasons or hypothesis on why the huge difference?
I would like to find a product that would not be so slow port to port, as I consider
Can you please explain the best testing environment setup? How to establish a solid baseline? Software used. What to use for data transfer.
I would like to use a tool that looks more like an "analyzer" that would display real time data rate transfers.
Thank you.

Whether it's a tiny portable hub or a desktop unit with extra power, you need a USB hub to make the most of your computer. We've tested over a dozen models to find the best.

I come for reliable reviews, as well as occasional h/w help.
Was going to buy the recommended Sabrent externally-powered 10-port until I saw the description on Amazon.
A light on every port? Really?
The room already looks like outer space when the overhead lights are off.
Aren't there enough distractions on/around my desk? Especially with the connection cable you said was too short, this thing ends up on my desk, or glowing behind the monitors.
May still get it, as I respect your testing, but I'm at a few more powered hubs for my new NUC.

PS: Would be nice to find any that have BOTH USB-A and -C ports on the bank, not just whether it's -A or -C cable connecting to the machine.

Shouldn't there be a cause for concern when connecting multiple USB devices through an unpowered USB hub? This practice could potentially strain the power supply of your computer, leading to issues such as diminished voltage regulation, overheating, and / or a shortened service life.

Why aren't there powered media hubs? Or USB hubs with more types of inputs... The best I could do was a powered USB hub with 1 SD card and 1 MicroSD card input. There are plenty of options for powered USB only hubs and plenty of options for media hubs with a range of inputs which aren't powered. Am I missing something here?
I am looking for a powered USB-C hub with several USB; high speed A & C with at least 2 that support fast charging and 2.0 don't bother me as long as there are at least a few 3.0 with SD, MicroSD 3,5mm audio, HDMI, & Ethernet. I figured that there would be something like that available but I can't seem to find it. Only what I found above, lots of powered USB and lots of media hubs but none with both. Is there a reason why this can't be produced? It would be nice to have it all on the same hub instead of plugging a media hub into a USB hub or getting a bunch of USB adapters for my devices.
