Hello Everyone,
Since I'm an impatient person, I went ahead and bought an RTX 3090 to upgrade from an RTX 2080. Performance is incredible. Who needs a 4000 series anyway?
Any who... I'm an avid over clocker. I've never had a challenge overclocking my system top to bottom but this Zotac Trinity OC RTX 3090 is a tricky one.
Since I've read that this specific model locks the power limit (might be correctable via Zotac provided vbios update for resizable bar - "maybe" or so I've read) I'm not sure what option to take here. I'm not one for taking huge risks, so I'm a little worried about flashing an off brand (such as MSI) vbios incase it bricks my card. However, if my only option to really overclock is to use an off brand vbios, I can do that if I find the courage.
Questions are these...
(1) If you were in my position, important to squeeze every single FPS out of the system, should I upgrade the Vbios to an off brand and see how that works? Is the risk mitigated knowing I have an Intel CPU K series that has video and so does my mobo? Or in other words, I update the vbios, brick the card, plug into my mobo hdmi for video, then flash the card again in hopes it fixes the brick? Is that one way to revert an potential issue?
(2) Or download the Zotac vbios for resizable bar, hoping that unlocks the power limit and can therefor push the card higher?
Depending on the answer for the first two questions...
(3) What numbers are you currently using? I have curve set (via afterburner) by the overclocking tool, and memory I set for +1200. Ran all benchmark tests and gaming, not a single crash. I'm not trying to break 3dmark speed records here, just want to unlock the full potential of the card.
Your feedback is greatly appreciated
