Best video card for a i5-2500k without bottleneck?

Or i bottleneck for a few months and then upgrade the rest of the rig...but that's a longshot. I've been looking at 1080s since '70s are closing in on them price-wise. Almost got a 580 today as well. Dont have high expectations for vega.

That would depend on the game. Some games are CPU bound and others are GPU bound.

But best bang for the buck if not in hurry, wait for Vega.



Otherwise to answer you question. Either RX580 or the GTX1060 will suit your CPU quite well. Yes as mentioned above you will have some bottlenecks depending on tasks, but really it wouldn't make any reason to stoop down to a gtx1050.

overclock the cpu ~4.5 ghz or better and it will make a fine setup




you could also consider a 1070 or 1080 if your motherboard supports the i7 3770k, and overclock it a bit

I used a 2500k (before I switched to 2600k) @ 4.7Ghz and it ran with a 1060 6gb fine, but I wouldnt go higher than that.

No, very easy. You just need a good cpu cooler, and your motherboard needs to have a chipset thats capable (either P67, Z68 or Z77).

From there, turn on LLC, set the voltage to 1.3, set the turbo multipliers for all cores to 45, then test for stability as you may be able to lower the voltage or go faster depending on how good your chip is and how good your cooler is.
