best video card for gaming?

time to get a new card as mine wont run games like thief 3, splinter
cell 2 etc. should i get the new geforce 6800 ultra? thanks

Where do you want to buy an Ultra ? It's not out yet...

This card has absolutely no interest compare to the 6800 GT...

Go read some reviews for the difference between both.

And if your actual card cannot play the games you mentionned, you CPU must be pretty lame too... You probably have
a Pentium 2 or 3 .... or a celeron... in that case forgot any upgrade ...it's pointless.... unless you want to
watch a slideshow.

lame is as lame does. my cpu is p4 2g. unfortunately the video it came
with is onboard geforce2mx. it has done very well with most games til
now.

Latest review I read for the 6800 Ultra and the Radeon X800 showed frame
rates being held back by the CPU speed at high resolutions. This was with
the latest and greatest from both AMD and Intel.

IMHO the Gigabyte FX5900XT or the Radeon 9800 Pro are about the best bang
for your bucks.
