Best video card for P67 Pro 3

I am looking to get a new video card for my comp. I'm looking at a 4 gb. my concern is the limitations of the pci-e 2.0 x16 slot. I don't want to pay for something that will be backed down because of the slot. so I'm just wondering what ideas people have or what I should be looking for as limitations.
