Hello....Asking for help and feedback from the community on a video card purchase. I have been looking at different cards and really want to get something that will run great with all the max settings and be a good overall card that will last some time. I have looked recently at the GTX Titan cards, The new GTX700 line, and the AMD Radeon HD7990.

Wanting to get the best bang for my buck and if it is the best route to spend $1000 on the Titan or the Radeon I will do it because I have invested a lot of money on my other parts. Help and feedback would be great and would love to be able to make a decision on what will be the best for me.

Thank you in advance!

The Twin Frozr IV cooler on the MSI Gaming Edition is not only one of the coolest, if not the coolest, it is also the quietest, according to the charts on TechPowerUp. It also has a nice feature where it runs in reverse for a few seconds at bootup to self-clean any dust that has accumulated.

Seeing as he wanted the best gpu on the market, that would be the titan. (690/770/680 sli perform better, but are multi-gpu setups). I wouldn't get it though. I would go for a single 780, and sli it in a couple years, as you don't need better now, and it will last longer than 770 sli. If he wants max power now, with limited upgradeability, then the 770 sli is better.

You should definitely consider one of the top-end custom GTX 780's, which will run right alongside a GTX Titan for about $350 less.

For top-end, take a look at the MSI Lightning due out on August 7th. Others to consider: Inno3d Herculez x3, Asus DirectCU II OC, Palit Super Jetstream, Gigabyte Windforce OC, and the EVGA ACX Classified (if that has been released yet). These are the absolute best GTX 780's on the market.

If you still want a Titan, Gigabyte is coming out with their Windforce custom version that will absoutely be the #1 best single-GPU card you can buy... with a price to match.

I do appreciate everyone's comments and feedback. The monitor I have purchased and will be using is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236313

I do plan on getting another monitor for a dual screen setup within a few months. I have noticed everyone talking about the different series from Nvidia but no one has really had any comments or mentions of the AMD Radeon HD7990 which is currently their flagship video card.

I know with this card a lot of people complain about the coil whine noise but other than that I was wondering if this card is not a good contender for future use and I know that ATI has claimed this particular card was running the Battlefield 4 gameplay demo that debut about 2 months ago.

How does the GTX780 stack up compared to the GTX Titan and the ATI Radeon HD7990?

Thank you.

7990 is crap, its been out 5mins and is already discontinued. It's a dual GPU card and Crossfire doesn't work right now, don't even consider it. The 780 is 7% slower than the Titan for a whole heap of money less, plus if both are overclocked they will end up as fast as each other as they share a TDP limit of 250w, and its unlikely you'll get a card crappy enough to not be able to clock high enough to reach this. Titan is obsolete.

Two 770's will be a bit faster than a 780 for less money, but you have to deal with more heat and noise, plus microstutter and potential driver issues with SLI. If or not the extra speed is worth it is up to you. Seeing as you are on a 1080p display, and Nvidia does not support gaming on 2 monitors, you do not need the 4GB 770's should you choose to go that route, the 2GB models are more than enough.

Thanks for the feedback on everything. I only mentioned the Radeon HD7990 because in most benchmarks I have read and looked at it scored really high on games like BF3, Tomb Raider, Metro Last Light, and many others.

I may go with a GTX780 if thats the card thats the best and better than Titan. Any particular GTX780 anyone can recommend? I have heard rumors about an upcoming MSI GTX780 Lighting so should I wait on it or does it really not matter?

Any feedback to help me make a decision I would really appreciate it much!

So I am asking if anyone was in my shoes they would dump on the Radeon HD7990 and either get a single gtx780 or 2 gtx770 in sli mode and skip altogether the Titan and GTX690 6gb model?

thats what i am going to do right now get 2 gtx 770's it should be hypothetically be better than the 7990 the titan and the 780

It cannot be stressed enough that your priority should be to get rid of that 7990. Practical FPS in the charts below is the actual FPS output, as measured on the monitor in these games. 770's in SLI versus a single GTX 780 is a matter of preference, the goals for your build, and your weighing of pros and cons.

why is crossfire that bad compared to sli

It's a long story, but basically.... SLI has frame metering and Crossfire doesn't. When the frames are spaced out evenly, there is less microstutter and performance is smoother. When frames are not spaced out, they tend to get jumbled up on top of each other and only partially rendered. The frames are being produced by the video card, they're just not being shown on screen. That's the difference between the Hardware FPS, which is what FRAPS measures at the video card output; and the Practical FPS measured by FCAT, which is the FPS that the monitor is showing after you clean up all the jumbled frames (called "runts").

What it means is that Crossfire shows high FPS on traditional counters like FRAPS or Afterburner, but the actual gaming experience isn't as smooth to the gamer as SLI. Basically, until AMD comes up with a fix for this issue, multi-GPUs in Crossfire, like your $1000 7990, are a waste of money. A fix is supposedly due out at the end of this month.

I'm not quite sure it is fair to knock the 7990 out. Once the Frame metering drivers come on in a couple of weeks, it should turn the 7990 into one of the fastest cards on the market. Still a crossfire setup but I def think it is something that will be a great investment once the drivers are fixed.

This is the video I was looking to purchase. Is it any good?

MSI Gaming N780 TF 3GD5/OC GeForce GTX 780 3GB 384...

Also when I brought up and mentioned the Radeon HD7990 I was mentioning this below with the benchmarks and where it stands. For example look at the MSI GTX 780 Gaming Video card compared to the others. What my plan is if I am on the right track is to purchase one now and other later to have 2 of them in SLI mode. The images below is the resolution I will be running at. Feedback?

Results are on this site and the resolution I will be running at is 1920x1080P

If you go here you can see the card I am looking to purchase plus how it stacks up with the new games.

Yes, that is a very good card. It's probably the best on the market, other than the over priced Titan. But be advised MSI coolers aren't the greatest.
