Best way to connect secondary router to cable modem/router

Hello,

I have a modem/router from my provider in my living room. I have run ethernet cable from the living room to my office and would like to connect my Asus RT-AC66U to extend the range for wireless but to also have other devices connected that can be seen from the entire network, such as a wireless printer, etc.

I am completely clueless here as to what I would need to set to achieve this? Right now the Asus is connected by wire and is broadcasting wirelessly but I cannot see other devices that are on the main modem/router in the living room, like Chromecast.

The WIFI downstairs (living room) is not strong enough to get upstairs (office + bedrooms) and there are devices upstairs that I would rather have wired so that they can have a stronger connection.

Any help on this subject would be much appreciated!
