Have a 4 TB HDD ,about close to 2 TB in Files that I need to recover.Think the HDD is a faulty one/
Trying to use Kroll Ontrack Enterprise to recover, but these kind of software usually have to scan the entire
HDD before recovery.
Is there a way to recover like 500 GB at one time,so that the scanning of the HDD does not take half a day?

Solution
No.
Those things go sector by sector, not file by file.
A particular file may exist partly in this 500GB portion, and partly in a different 500GB portion.
Just let it run.

And feel lucky if you get some/most/all of it back. File recovery is always hit or miss.

Whatever you have running, just let it run. The more you mess with it, the less likely to get anything from it.
