Best way to salvage an old UPS?

I have a very old UPS whose future home is a shiny trash can. I am assuming the led-acid assembly will have lost all its value but the electrical circuitry which manages voltages can still be put to use in normal AC power circuits as a voltage regulator or trip-fuse setup?

Any ideas appreciated.

None of the rest willl have much use without a battery, I'd imagine.

Best thing to do is probably to pick up a new battery and keep using it.
