I have built a new computer and would like to transfer a large amount of files from my old, several computers. Hardwire seems the best. I don't need to transfer system files. Mostly images and documents. How can I do this best and easiest way?

Connect drives to your newly built system using an USB adapter. An external SSD/HDD dock of sorts is what you're looking for.

So just get an external drive and download to it? Can do.

I was wondering if there was a direct cable that could hook between the computers? And is there a good copying utility that can move 55,000 images ranging for as much as 5mb each.

Pull the old drive and plug it into the motherboard. Then just move files over as needed. It's the fastest way and requires nothing more than a plug from the new psu and a data cable.

55k images will take a serious amount of time, even with usb3 speeds, direct drive is somewhat faster

Looks like a LAN/Ethernet cable is the best. Seems like an effort to pull drives out of another computer, or maybe I missed something?

I did buy a 2TB SSD external drive and thought about downloading into it. I do have a USB 3 port, but some of my really older computers only have USB2. Could take a very long time!

Thank you for all your inputs! Bill
