I currently have a old HP elite 1050 (http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02859331) or the remains of one. I have upgraded the graphics card to a 770 and added 16gb of corsair vengeance ram and a corsair 80 plus cert 850w PSU, and it is no longer in the HP case but a mid tower corsair C70 case. which has been and is a pretty nice setup for me so far (FO4 40-50fps on high), but I think my HDD is getting old (5yrs). My question is how should I go about upgrading from here? I thought I was gonna do a new build using the old ram and GPU, but if its easier to replace the HDD and get a graphics card that is better and keep using the old i7 2600S then I would.

I actually started a while back and bought a MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Mobo and was looking into getting a i5 or i7 maybe a Xeon 1231v3 if I found a good deal and then building up from scratch, but now looking at my CPU and how its been doing I was leaning toward just keeping it and the mobo and replacing my worn out HDD and getting a real gaming graphics card.

My goal is to be able to enjoy some AAA gaming comfortably med/highish settings for BF1 CIV 6 and a few other games, my budget is realistically $300-400. is this do able? or am I in a pit with my current system?

With that budget you can choose CPU and HDD or GPU and HDD. I don't think you'd see a huge improvement with a CPU upgrade, while a GPU will be pretty nice.
