System Specifications:

Motherboard: Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3 ver 1.x

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600

Memory:

3×8GB - G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3200 MHz RAM

1×8GB - VENGEANCE® LPX 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 2400MHz

https://www.corsair.com/ca/en/Categ...GEANCE-LPX/p/CMK8GX4M1A2400C16#tab-tech-specs

How should I use this 32GB memory effectively to get best performance.

means, should I run

  • 32GB run at 2400 MHz.
  • 24GB run at 2666 MHz (removed corsair to match identical RAMs also with G.Skill kit tried 3200 MHz but its crashing my Windows).
  • Somewhere in better configuration with them.
Someone who has experience and knows about these RAM speeds, latency etc. should suggest me how to use these 4 RAM modules. I don't want to keep Corsair on shelf, just want to use that one without loosing the performance at the same time satisfying my 24 GB G.Skill kit for its value.

If someone has same mobo and RAM (specially G.Skill), please share overclocking details.

Thank you.

P.S: RAMs not there in mobo QVL list, but 2400MHz all are working fine. At 2666MHz only 1×Corsair, 1×G.skill working, if I add another 2×G.skill then I'm getting BSOD (may be missing something). Just doing overclock with Gigabyte "EasyTune", no voltage, speed changes.

Edit:

Modified Crucial RAM its not CL14 (wrong link, sorry for that), it's CL16.

Basically here are my tech specs:

Brand: VENGEANCE® LPX 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 2400MHz C16 Memory Kit
CAC Latency: 16
Timings: 16-16-16-39
Voltage: 1.2V
Capacity: 1x8GB (Kit)

Brand: G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series
CAC Latency: 16
Timings: 16-18-18-38
Voltage: 1.35V
Capacity: 2x8GB (Kit) + 1x8GB

If I were you, I'd find a way to ditch/sell the single stick of Corsair 8GB DDR4-2400MHz and a single stick from the 3 G.Skill rams and pick up the same kit you've linked. That way you have 4 sticks of the same ra and you can go to DDR4-3200MHz.

In essence what you're attempting to do is take two single shoes out of two pairs respectively and wear them individually on each leg. Don't do that, work with kits/pairs of rams as opposed to mixing and matching.

With what you have now, install 2 of the gskill chips(the 2 that came in the kit together) in slots 1 and 2(the red slots) and leave the others to out. This way the ram should run in dual channel at higher speeds(once you set it up in the bios atleast). This will give you the best performance. Adding the 3rd stick will knock it down to single channel.

All four modules should function fine at 2400Mhz with the timings and voltage of the 2400Mhz module, which would be 14-16-16-31 and 1.2v. If you buy another module of the same spec as the G.Skill 3200Mhz, you are going to have trouble running 4x8GB at anything higher than 2666Mhz on your motherboard. You might be able to run 2933/3000, but you would more likely be able to run those speeds on Ryzen 2000.

Edit - Install the 2400Mhz module into DDR4_1, which is the furthest module to the right.

Edit 2 - Forgot to mention that you probably can't overclock that 2400Mhz module to 2666Mhz and that you might also need to increase voltage to 1.25 with all four modules installed. If you do try overclocking to 2666Mhz, try using auto timings first and if it doesn't work increase timings to somewhere around 15-17-17-34 or 16-18-18-36 with 1.2-1.25v

If you actually need 32 GB -- which is still fairly rare -- sell the whole lot and buy one 2x16 GB kit. RAM is fairly cheap right now and the amount you'll lose on the swap will be much cheaper than the amount of aggravation you will get from a FrankenRAM situation that will prevent you from using your quality RAM.

If you don't actually need more than 16 GB -- and most people don't -- use the good kit, sell the other two, call it a day. If you don't use 16 GB of RAM, then anything past 16 GB of RAM is essentially just as valuable to running your PC as 0 GB would be.

thanks for the suggestions.

here are my thoughts:

- RAMs should purchase in kits and must be same speed, timings and possibly brand (found out that lately after my second purchase and now in 3rd time I took the one of the existing brand in my board).

- Dual channel will give more performance than single channel and adding a third stick will be considered as single channel. ( I thought that then I added this 2400MHz RAM, so that may be I'll get 2×Dual Channels but didn't considered much about timings )

Considering your suggestions, here are my options right now:

- Run 2×8GB G.Skill RAMs (kit) at 2666 MHz w/auto timings.

- Run all at 2400 MHz/2666 MHz(auto timings) and possibly look for selling my single channel RAMs.

Also, which one provide better performance ,little confused in this scenario (did googling got more confused).

  1. 2×8GB (same kit) running at 2666 MHz speed w/Gigabyte auto timings (considering this is dual channel).
  2. 3×8GB (same brand, speed and timings) running at 2666 MHz speed w/Gigabyte auto timings (I'll considered this as a single channel).
  3. 4x8GB (different brand, speed and timings) running at 2400 MHz speed w/out change in timings (considered 2x dual channel mode).

Suggestions much appreciated, meanwhile I'll find a way to sell these extra single channel RAMs.

Thanks you.
