I'm headed off to college at the end of the month and I was told that the internet connectivity is strictly wireless. My room won't have access to run a Ethernet, so I'm looking to pick up a high quality wireless adapter.

I've been looking at the TP Link Archer T9E/T8E (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833704241&cm_re=tp_link_archer-_-33-704-241-_-Product) or the Asus AC1300/AC1900 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16833320181).

Thoughts or experiences with it? Alternates products?

Likely all wireless adapters will have issue with gaming from time to time. Because of the error recovery method in wireless it is one of the worst platforms to run games on that are extremely sensitive to delay.

It is impossible even say which would be your best wireless card. It will greatly depend on what type of router is used, the distance to that router and things like what the walls are made of.

Speed is not your primary concern for games it is the quality of the signal. 802.11ac only runs on 5g which has many more issues with distance and penetration of walls. 2.4g generally has a stronger signal in most houses but it also is gets a lot more interference from wifi sources outside the house.

I guess your first question to...

I guess your first question to find out is what type of router. If it does not even have 802.11ac then it doesn't really matter which version your card would run since neither would be use.
