What would you consider the best x470 mobos for someone who won't OC or use multiple gpus?

I have the fatal1ty, but read that it has popping sounds in audio sometimes, so am leaning getting the asus prime mobo. I have read that it's one of the best midrange to get.

I have never built before, but honestly it seems to me that ALL brands are unreliable now. I read so much bad about all of the manufacturers, least with asus but still some against them too.

If you're picky about audio get a high end add-in audio card and then don't worry about it.

The price for one isn't so bad considering you can take it with you to new systems as you upgrade.

I thought about it, but the thing is... I don't need the best audio (not even connecting more than 2 speakers), just simply not wanting issues with it as apparently the asrock sometimes will have. Plus I started feeling like I'd just rather have a different mobo.

Another problem is that it would take up a pcie slot. I am already paranoid about having devices sharing those chipset lanes as it is.

Speaking of which... someone told me that on most mobos a secondary ssd will be limited tio pcie 2.0, not 3.0, and maybe not even be given 4 lanes. Anyone have ideas on mobos that would allow for 2 pcie 3.0 connections for nvme ssds? Otherwise, I might as well get a sata one for the secondary, I assume.

X470 as well as well as B450 chipsets provide only gen 2 PCIe lanes to peripherals. And in so far as I know there are no boards that 'steal' PCIe gen 3 lanes from the GPU to use for a second NVME... don't even know if it's possible, actually.

I expect you'll have to wait for X570 chipsets to get more gen 3 PCIe lanes for peripherals.

For what it's worth, I've an NVME on the second M.2 on my B450 Mortar and drive accesses never saturate the bandwidth of even the 4 gen 2 lanes it uses. It may do so in some useage scenarios, but what I do with games and video encodes and such doesn't seem to.
