yeah! those rule. big cooling, bolts to M/B. what else could you possibly want?

Fins that arnt welded but skived.
oh and how about one that fits a 120mm fan

My Computer is so powerful Sauron Desires it and mortal men Covet it, My Precioussssssss

that would be the day... thing doesn't even fit 92mm fans... mind you, its not that hard to mod it to fit a 120mm fan... also works well with a window mounted fan cooling heatsink directly... tried it with my bare Vantec Aeroflow heatsink and my 120mm 104cfm window-mounted fan, and I got low-30s temps on a non-OCed Athlon 1600

Woohoo! Broke the 30-celcius barrier with through the loud and innefficient world of air-cooling! Also, never - NEVER - play with gum in one hand and hair in the other... just trust me.

Good points. It isn't perfect. From what I can find though it looks to be about the highest performance off the shelf air cooling solution at the moment.

error_911, you already have one of these? I wasn't even aware they existed until a couple of days ago.

oh no dude, u miss-understood me i think - i said that i managed to hit low-30s with my Vantec Aeroflow with no HSF on it, just my window-mount 120mm fan... and the bottom "signature" on that post (i know, i have a different one now) was just 'caus i hit 28 degrees Celcius with all my all my fans on low, heh (2 x Vantec Tornado 80mm, 1 120mm window-mouted 104cfm no-name, and my Vantec Aeroflow heatsink). Mind-you, I was looking at the specs and design of the SLK900 and I dunno, compared to the SLK800, unless they price it EXTREMELY close, I don't think it's gonna catch except for the big (and not-always-thinking) spenders. Besides, the new Swiftech MCX number whatever is supposed to be really good (the one thats available with a pelletier element in it), so there's another contender, and for the price (its cheaper than an SLK800) I don't think Thermalright has much of a chance... mind you, I find that any of their top-of-the-line heatsink are overpriced anyways

Moore's Law: Processor speed doubles every 12 to 18 months.
OverClocker's Law: My processor went that fast 12 to 18 months ago.

I don't know...the swiftech w/ peltier is listed at $91.50 and that is before you buy the necessary dedicated 12V supply. Thanks for pointing that out though, I hadn't seen those. It does look to be superior cooling compared to the slk-900 based on the numbers on the swiftech site though. I guess they can eek a little more cooling out of that setup since the hot side of the peltier element can presumably safely stay at a higher temp than a processor can.

Well you don't want to get the peltier hot side above 100 C otherwise the solder in it may melt.

Anyway I have said this a douzen times: peltiercooling with HSFs on a CPU is just a waist of money.

My dual-PSU PC is so powerfull that the neighbourhood dimms when I turn it on 😱
