That's all I was warning you about. I'm not harping on the build, but it would be ashame to disqualify a nice build because of a little technicality. You could try to cheap out on the mobo to get a DVD in there.

Newegg reviews mean little to nothing. First off, people are usually more prone to writing a review to bitch about a product than to praise one. If it works great, most people are happy and would rather game than make a product review. Secondly, people are idiots so who's to say their issues aren't their own faults? There's at least a couple people who aren't happy because they couldn't unlock it to a 6970. I mean, really? If people are messing with their vBIOS and something effs up, it's their fault. But don't expect them to accept that.

Well, I picked this mobo because it's the cheapest one with 8x/8x PCIe lanes. Anything cheaper does 16x/4x. But anyway, I like to do something "different" with these builds to get either max FPS or, for example with the "high end intel build" I went with CF 6970s for an eyefinity build instead of SLI 580s that a lot of ppl are favoring. If I don't win, well, no big deal.

Total after rebates, shipped - $997 :)

Beast of a computer for $1000. It was tight, and theres no wiggle room, but it gets a very efficient graphics setup, and 60GB of the fastest reasonable SSD. Also, I didn't use some no-name $35 case that is going to fall apart, be extraordinarily loud, and look like an over sized toy. As for the Z68 chipset - I couldn't find H67 with 2 PCIe slots at at least 8x/8x, and the Z68 board was affordable, so you also get access to the on board HD2000 graphics and therefore Quicksync, as well as SSD cacheing, which I wouldn't use, but having the option is nice. And yes, 600W is plenty of power for this rig.

Get rid of all the rebates and shipping. I'm sure it's a good build, but all the extra calcs make a mess of the post.

Besides rebates aren't rebates anymore. They are prepaid cards, often only usable as gift cards for the manufacturer's products. As far as shipping, it says specifically in the first post that you should leave it out.

-True about the money

-False about the PSU.

(total CF 6870 + i7 970 system power usage = 449W at the wall, which is around 360W PSU power assuming 80% efficiency)

Broken case and DVD-R links. Questionable power supply. Perhaps the one thing you should not go cheap on is the power supply seeing as how a bad one can torch the whole setup.

Nice SSD.

I mean biostar is a cheap brand, not very high quality. Better off with Asus, Gigabyte MSI, ASRock. And throw the extra $15 for the 2600k. It allows OCing. Although you really wanna drop to 2500k anyway....

Ok.. i would hav gone for the other brands, but then i think i would have passed the $1000 tag. And i chose this board because it has the 3.0 USB.. And also for the processor, i dint aimed at OCing thats y i dint put in any Cooling kit and selected i7 2600.. plus i dont think that any game in the near future would require more than 3.4GHz (3.8 Turbo) Quad core 8 threads of processing power

yes.. if benchmarks are considered, there is too little difference, but it will perform better and faster multitasking(more threads and cache),, but not much effect in gaming,, thats y i said,, it can be considered :)

You don't need to include an operating system. See where that extra hundred can go with your hardware. :D
