Beta Directdraw Expired

I am running W2k and directx8.1a....and get the message
'beta directdraw expired, please update!' whenever i want
to play a movie etc. it also occurs when going to some sites, aswell as this site.
Although everything works normally after clicking the message away....

I allready posted this in driver problems area but didnt get
any help or hints......but there are more people with this problem....

SO, anyone can help me and the rest out?......

Whats there to update??..i got the latest drivers...

HELP!

I have seen many people posting in here with the same problem. Do a search, and you should see the post. However, I haven't seen any resolutions.

If you are brave enough here is a site the claims they have a Directx ver 5-8 uninstaller <A HREF="http://www.tweakfiles.com/misc/directxuninstaller.html" target="_new">TweakFiles</A> I don't recommend this unless you are at the point of reformatting, because I have never heard of anyone uninstlling Directx. So, you are on your own Kimosabi.

Did you find a solution/workaround? A lot of people need your feedback if you have survived a DirectX 8.1a/b resolution. Post and help your fellowman/PC nerd.

i had that prob under 98, ran a directx uninstaller (cant remember what its called- im at work), it uninstalled just fine, I installed the dx8 from microsofts site and all has been well. if anyone needs this program, please mail me calv@fuckyou.co.uk
