Better 1440p monitor or graphics card

Currently I have a 60hz 1440p monitor but I am looking into either a better gpu or a 144hz monitor and I am torn btwn the two. I plan to upgrade my 680 during the next midrange gen and am wondering other peoples thoughts on whether prepping myself with 1440p 144 hz is better than a gpu like the 1080 now?

Maybe 21:9 worth it? Thanks!

first, get soemthing like the 1060/1070, then upgrade your 1440p monitor, your 680 is not going to provide 144fps

Yeah I've come to accept my 680 limitations. I do play CS from time to time as well. I am thinking the monitor upgrade would outlast some gpu generations. Thanks for your insight

i'd say get a gtx 1070, but we know nothing about your other computer hardware specs. Assuming you have a powerfull cpu, The 1070 will give you average 60+ fps for the next 3-5 years. It will also give you plenty of time to research/find the perfect 4k monitor for your next gpu upgrade.

HDR G sync r on their way. a 1070/1080 now and a quantum dot HDR later sounds nice. try for a 1080 if u play more games in general.
