Better choice and value? EVGA 1070 ti vs EVGA 1080

Hi,

I am currently using EVGA 770 SC ACX, 2GB GPU. Now, I'm planning to upgrade. I was planning to get the EVGA 1080 SC (08G-P4-6183) but I couldnt find where I can get.

I now have these option:
EVGA GTX 1070 Ti SC GAMING (08G-P4-5671-KR) https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=08G-P4-5671-KR
or
EVGA GTX 1080 GAMING (08G-P4-6181-KR) https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=08G-P4-6181-KR

I could use any info or advise you have to help me decide which one to choose. 1070 ti has 2 free games Destiny2 and Monster Hunter World while 1080 has only Destiny2, upon purchase. But it doesnt matter if there is free game or none.

Note: I also am looking at the EVGA RTX 2070 XC BLACK Edition GAMING (08G-P4-2071-KR) https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=08G-P4-2071-KR.

I would go for the 1070ti. Overclock it and you'll match the 1080.
The price for the 2070 is still too high(on the EVGA website prices are messed up) in my opinion... barely faster than the 1080 and the ray tracing technology is nowhere to be seen currently.
If you really want to go with EVGA as a brand I'd consider this.

Here is my setup:

CPU: Intel i7 4770k
Mobo: Asus Sabertooth Z87
Ram: Corsair Vengeance pro 2×8gb DDR3 1866
SSD: Samsung Pro 256gb
PSU: Corsair AX 860
GPU: EVGA GTX 770 2GB SuperClocked ACX

This was built 2014, so im planning to upgrade by parts. Considering an upgrade to 8th Gen after I decide which GPU, and so on..

Thank you for your suggestion. Will check on that gpu. Just in case, do you have other suggestion from a different brand of gpu?

Any brand should be fine as long as it's a known one.
I would suggest staying with the 4770k for now.....it will still perform really well with the new GPU.
I'd hold on the CPU upgrade until next year when 7nm chips will be released.

If i dont overclock the 1070 ti, is it still a better choice against the 1080?

The 1070ti has 8008 Mhz memory clock, while 1080 has 10010 Mhz, does that make any difference regarding speed and value of GPU?

price difference is the 1070ti is less $10 than 1080

Well if you don't OC, then the 1080 would be the better choice since it's around 10% faster and the price difference between them is small.

Yeah, if it's just $10 to get the 1080, do it. It was one thing when last month I was looking at at least $60 difference--and I still went with the 1080. If I had faced a $10 gap, there wouldn't be any hesitation.
