Hi,

But my noisy stock heatsink/fan suffered :) . THe X2 555 CPU goes up around a max of 57celcus when overclocking (4.2GHZ@1.525v) and playing BF3. Computer crashed 2 times in a night.

My case is a mini ATX cooler master so I can not install those vertical heatsink.

So my plan to cool down my cpu and get rid of the noise is :
install a 120mm fan with a 120-to-80mm fan adapter and put better thermal paste.
or
buy a new heatsink/fan under $30
Cooler Master Vortex Plus or Scythe SAMURAI-ZZ

What would you do and do you have better solutions?
Thanks

Yeah I think that would do. So I am thinking installing a good 120mm fan (with adapter on cpu heatsink). There will be just about an inch left between the case and the fan. So I might add a fan or just a really small duck to the case.

Thanks for the idea.

ok here are my results:

After reading some articles, I realised that a 120mm fan with an 70mm adapter on my stock heatsink will reduce the noise but the temp. So I decided to invest that money in a new heatsink : Scythe SAMURAI-ZZ. It reduces the temp by a 5celcus and it is quiet (90mm fan).

I did not install a fan on the case just over it. It does not help to cool down and the air turbulence between the case fan and heatsink fan create noise.
