hello peoples of toms hardware, i have an msi gtx 1070 and an amd fx 8350 and im pretty sure the 8350 cant handle the 1070 because games like shadow of mordor dont run at 60fps on ultra when it should. any suggestions on a new cpu i could get that will handle better? im willing to get a new motherboard of thats the case. my current motherboard is msi 990fxa-gd80v2

Solution
My suggestion is to stick with your 8350, some games are just not optimized for 8 core cpu's, some only use 2

Hopefully the advent of dx12 might bring some hope

i can't really afford something like that on a college kid salary (which is nothing) thats why i have the 8350, cause it was cheap and one of the better amd processors

honestly most of my games that are well made for pc (i.e MGSV PP) run at a stable 60fps on high settings, its just the few that dont that really annoy me because i payed for this beast of a pc and it can't handle them

btw can you explain the whole dx12 thing to me, i know games run with dx11 right now but i still dont know what that does.

Admirable
Dx11 only use specific control set by the program, dx12 uses resources regardless of the program control set.

Basically, games are programs
For maximum compatibility, it uses only 2 cores or 4 because it is what mainstream consumers use

Dx12 aims to fix that
