I was recently gifted a GTX 1080TI FE by a family member who ran 2 of them in SLI. Since support for SLI is disappearing he decided to give me one. I was was running a Powercolor 5700(not XT). Obviously owning 2 gpu's of this quality is worthless so which one is better to keep for longevity?
I wont be purchasing another video card for 2-3 years

Current set up
Ryzen 5 3600
16g DDR4
650w EVGA
MSI Tomahawk B450MB

Hello!
If the GTX 1080ti was looked after well by your mate, you shouldn't see any issues in the near future. Definately keep the 1080ti because it's better than the RX 5700 for gaming, giving you more than 40% performance boost. I used a ASUS DirectCU II GTX 580 that was looked after in the beginning of January for a month, so I can tell you higher end GPU's are certainly long-lasting.
Hope this helps!
