Currently have a Sony 49x900E 4K I use for gaming. It could do 4K@120Hz.

Just built a gaming rig with a 2080Ti, and am wondering two things:
1. Is there a gaming monitor that would get me enough of an improvement in gaming that it would be worth it to swap out for the x900E?

2. I do find that gaming on a 49" screen can sometimes be too much, and am wondering what size screen I could possibly downscale to that would be best for PC gaming? Somewhere in the 32-34"?

The thing with Monitors is there really isn't a "best", since monitors have a ton of variable options, and really depends on you to determine which features are most important, and this usually depends on the TYPE of games you play.

Things to consider:
Freesync / Gsync
Screen size
Resolution
Max FPS (refresh rate)
Input Lag
Response Time
Color Accuracy
Contrast Ratio
Viewing Angles
HDR / Brightness
Backlight bleed

In general terms, TVs don't focus on this set of features, so generally TVs don't make good monitors, although this seems to be changing a bit lately.

Simply put, a monitor can't max out every feature, so they pick tradeoffs. Competitive fps gamers usually focus on High Refresh rates, with low input lag and response time. Content creators like color accuracy, HDR, and contrast ratios. A gamer who does RPGs might prefer large immersive screen, good colors, good resolution, and care less about frames and input lag.

The PG35VQ is stil an exceptional monitor, and extremely expensive. It, to me, has the least amount of trade offs, but you pay a heavy premium for it, so some might consider it the "best."

With an investment like this, I would really recommend you do alot of research on what is important to you.

I'd start here:

Determine what features are important too you and then we can narrow down what would be best for you. Once you know whats important, you can narrow down your choices and then I would look to see if Linus or Hardware Unboxed has a review on youtube. They do really thorough reviews and comparison charts to help you see monitor differences.

Hope this helps.
