Better to buy SSD or do hardware RAID

Hello,
I am truly really new to hardware basics. I have a laptop with two 5400 round per minute hard disks. As I need to boost the laptops speed, I want to know if its better to configure Hardware RAID or to buy a new SSD Disk and install it on the machine.
Thank you very much in advance for guiding me through this.

Solution
SSD is much better. You have to do some very impressive RAID configurations to beat out the performance of an SSD. Those solutions would not fit in a laptop.

Any time, keep in mind you're going to be paying way more $/GB for SSD solutions, keeping one drive as a traditional HDD will allow increased storage. You can move your OS and any thing you want to load quickly (games, startup programs) onto the SSD for a compromise between cost and performance.

SSD hands down will beat even 4 drives in raid 0 because of the complete lack of seek times.

As stated having both is a best of both worlds situation
Some laptops actually have 2 slots in them for hard drives.
Mine did not so I got a dvd-drive caddy that allows me to remove my dvd drive and it keeps a hard dive nice and snug in there and interfaces to the port sata dvd drives use. So I have my ssd as boot drive and my regular HDD still in the computer for mass storage.
