Better to use serial>molex or split a molex into 2?

I'm using a power supply that only has 1 Molex plug. I have a hard drive and an optical drive that require molex power.

Is it safer to use a molex Y splitter to change that 1 molex into 2 molex plugs


or

use that 1 molex plug for he hard drive then use the other serial plugs and attach a Sata>Molex adapter for the optical drive?

It is safe to use the splitter.

doesn't matter, the wiring inside chain of molex connections is logically the same as a Y splitter, else there would be significant voltage drops (50%) with each connector.
