Beware: Eva, the Banker in Wind, is a scammer!

I am not much for gold farming but my cash reserves were getting low so last
night Draco and I went to wind to solicit donations from the deamons that
haunt the tunnels surrounding the city. After about 90 minutes or so, I had
sent well over 60k to my bank via a bag of sending (although I am not much
of a gold farmer, Draco proved to be quite persuasive at convincing the
deamons that ours was a worthy cause). We then walked over to the bank,
opened it up and there was two nice shiny piles of gold. So far, so good.

Well, the last of my funds was in a check for 992,089gp which I wanted to
bring up to a nice even 1,000,000gp so I cashed it. I then asked Eva the
Banker for a check for 1000000gp. She replies; "Ah, art thou trying to fool
me? Thou hast not so much gold!" Thinking that I had accidentally hit an
extra zero, I ask again and the woman repeats her statement that I do not
have that much gold. Concerned now, I ask for my balance and she tells me
that I have only 992,089 in the bank. I ask for a check for 990,000 and Eva
happily complies with that request. All that is left in my bank box is a
single pile of 2089 golden coins. My 60k+ gold was somehow gone even though
I had adequate room in my bank (only about 104 items even with the check
cashed).

I quickly paged a GM, informing them that Eva had embezzled my funds! I
know well how helpful the GM's are about replacing lost or missing items but
the big brown dragon standing behind me was not so understanding as I. It
was all I could do to convince my draconian friend that GM "tasted terrible"
and that eating that unhelpful fellow in red would be more trouble that it
would be worth.

They should have the bank manager in Wind keep a very close eye on this
woman. I noticed some packed bags under a nearby table. I suspect that she
plans to abscond with my money and most of the banks as well!

Perhaps, if these NPCs were given a decent wage and not forced to work 23
hours a day without so much as a potty break, they would not be inclined to
take advantage of innocent customers like this!

Check your bank box for a check. If you do not have room for all the
60k piles of gold, it will make one check for the balance. the check
may be hidden under a bag or something in the box. If you find it,
take something out of the bank box, and cash the check. Then you
can draw a check for the 1mil you wanted.

Hmmm...992089 / 60000 = 16 piles. You wouldn't think you'd go over the
pile limit but 104+16 is getting close. If you try to cash a check and
don't have room, what happens to the gp - they drop to the ground right?
I know there is newish code to prevent this from happening inadvertently
when you combine 60K piles. Maybe/obviously it is buggy?

I had something weird happen with checks too. When I wanted a Ancient
Samurai Helm to complement my Ember Leggings, I bought one from a vendor
but later I realized I had my checks on that account inside a pack in my
bank and only had a smallish amount (<100K) of raw gp in the main bank
box. The helm was 1.2M so it would have used up 6 checks (I keep mine in
200K denominations) but since they were in a nested pack, they never got
used. I guess the vendor was able to count up the value okay because it
didn't balk at my not having the ready gp or checks but it never redeemed
them. Never did figure that one out.

The gold definitely made it back to your box, right?
Otherwise I suspect the Bag-of-sending operation has been contracted out to
DHL or the like :)

I got into the habit of banking at the EastBrit bank when I started, as
things that dropped on my toes were hidden from the view of most customers!

Sorry, being a bit slow here... do you mean you didn't pay at all??

no if you dont have the room the check doesnt get chashed when you click on
it.
also if you dont have the room when you make the check it will not drop on
the ground, you will have it in your pack, or you will have 126 items in the
bank. gold and checks seem to be the only item that does this.

Yep. Never seen the owner of that vendor around or I'd ask if he got
paid. Anyhow, I still think there is something wonky with the way checks
in bags get used when vendor shopping.

I had 104 items *with* the check cashed.

There was plenty of room in my bank box. I calculated the number of items
before I even cashed the check. Even with that check cashed into piles of
gold I was only at 104 items.

I ran another character through Wind tonight and I noticed the Eva was
wearing a brand new outfit. Coincidence?
