i have recently bought a pair of beyerdynamic dt 990 Pro headphones and they sound kinda quiet, even though i have a decent sound card (asus xonar se which has an amp for headphones with up to 300ohm) does anyone know why this is happening?
sorry for my late response, i have the 250ohm and yes they are plugged directly into the sound card, i also have my sound card on high gainWhich version of the DT990s? Are they plugged directly into the sound card?
yeah, everything that has to do with volume is at max, my cousin had the xonar dg with these headphones, and they were really loud, mine don't even compare to his pairIf you right click the volume icon in Windows and select Mixer are all the volume sliders at 100%?
i did, like 2 timesThe card should drive the headphones. My 1990 Pros are also 250ohm but they're on the easy to drive side of 250ohm. Maybe try reinstalling the Asus software.

yes, there is a difference when i switch from low to high and i have disabled the onboard card. even my xonar u3 does a better job, the headphones are louder with the u3OK is there a difference when you switch from low to high gain?
Have you disabled onboard sound? I do it in BIOS. ( I have an Asus Xonar STX )
In Speakers / Headphones Properties - Enhancements off. Exclusive mode - both checked.
yes i did everything you saidAre you using the sound card connection or the case headphone jacks? Did you try both to see if there is a difference? Cable seated all the way? Have you tested the headphones on the other computer that works OK with those same headphones?
