currently i bought bf 4 also along with brand new gpu r7 240 2gb ddr3 (gigabyte)
but unfortunately when there are high graphics load (which means a strong 1 on 1 ) combat or when the load increases the fps drops greatly gives strong lags
please help
also many people told me that you can check by fraps that if it is a gpu or cpu bottleneck they said if you drop the quality and resolution and fps increase significantly than its gpu bottleneck but if they dont increase then its cpu problem

and in my case even i drop or raise settings fps remain same so is it cpu prob ?

specs are
q6600 2.4 ghz quad core
8 gb ddr2 ram
r7 240 2gb ddr3
305 watt psu

please reply if its a gpu or cpu bottleneck or any other problem ?
also tell me (i have got almost no budget ) what to do next and what type of games can i play at a playable rate
please reply completely
thanks and waiting for your answers
any details required woll be provided :)

Well it's definitely a CPU bottle neck, but also that R7 isn't really a strong card. Even though you have a quad core, it's really a old chip, and I would recommend a complete overhaul. However, since you don't have a budget, not much you can do.

You can try BF: bad company...but it depends on what games you are into.

IF you are lowering the settings and the framerate is equal, the limiting factor is most likely with the CPU. Just to make sure, lower the games resolution as far down. If FPS still doesn't increase considerately, the problem is almost definitely not on the GPU.

It's most likely the CPU, but just to check it isn't something else, download and install a program named MSI AfterBurner.
Set up the on screen display to include the framerate, per core usage, GPU usage, CPU usage, ram usage, etc.
During the low FPS you receive, check the per core usage of the CPU. If at least one of its cores is near 100%, the bottleneck is the CPU.

then what about bf 3 and my current problem ? i am also planning to buy gta 5 will atleast it be playable ?

That should work. Below are the specs. You had a Quad-core and a 1GB GPU that can handle it.

OS: Windows 7 64-big
Processor: Quad Core CPU
Memory: 4GB RAM
Hard drive: 20GB
Graphics card: DirectX 11 compatible with 1024MB RAM (Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 or ATI Radeon 6950)
Sound card: DirectX compatible
Keyboard and mouse
DVD ROM drive

i cant understand hence what is the problem then ?
this is the thing that is making me worried because my pc fills at least minimum req for bf4 or even better than that and still i am getting huge problems :/
also what about bf3 gta 5

Honestly this isn't an either or question. The answer is both your CPU and GPU are large bottlenecks for playing BF4. You have a 10 year old CPU and a 3 year old $50 GPU that was really never great at gaming. If you look back at reviews the R7 240 didn't get great frame-rates on games then even on low settings.

Thats 34 FPS on low at 1680x1050 and that was tested with a Intel Core i5-2550K so don't expect even 34FPS as your CPU will cause lower FPS:

Probably not. You can try and see, but at the end of the day, your components are too weak to handle new games. That's that.

every body is telling me this and i am just fedup :/
i know this but quad is not hell much poor and 4 cores help it somehow i also know its not pretty good but i want a sol for now and reason 🙁
also wanna know that cpu changed will make it playable ?

It's not just about the cores, it's how the cores are used. Right now a G4560 (a dual core) will out perform your Q6600 any day.

You need to do a complete overhaul. New motherboard, RAM, CPU. There is no way around it.

Well fed up or not neither that CPU or GPU is good for playing modern games. Regardless if you upgraded the CPU or GPU you will still have very serious FPS issues. The 10 year old CPU is a quad core but vs today's CPU's each core is very weak. The GPU was never good for gaming, even the day it came out, as you can see from the link I posted when TH reviewed. This PC should be relegated to email and Internet browsing as there is nothing you can really do to make it competent at gaming other than replace it. If you want to play games stick to games 7+ years old, Facebook games, and you should be fine on many of them but not all.

I am not trying to be harsh just telling you the truth about this CPU and GPU configuration. Nothing personal at all here.

now seriously tell me what is the component that is holding it back more and by improving it will enhance gaming somehow
of course i bought gpu newly hence is it cpu ?
by increasing cpu will i get optimal best performance
hence which setting of gta 5 will be playable

also i get the same problem in watch dogs 2 as in bf 4
please reply

The CPU and GPU are the parts holding it back severely.

You could start with getting a half decent GPU like a GTX1060, at least you could put it in a new PC if it doesn't help that much due to the CPU holding it back.

However you said you had almost no budget so I'm really not sure why you are focused on which part is holding it back because with almost no budget I can't see how you will improve the situation.

sorry to say but of course i have bought it newly (gpu) so i cant change it well i can think to get another i5 2500 now will it further give improved performance ?
please reply

An i5 2500 will improve performance to some degree. It is a pretty large step up over the q6600 so if you can get one cheap I would. Maybe months down the road you can find a decent used GPU like say an old GTX670 which would play BF4 great.

Here is the GPU hierarchy. Something from the 6-7th tier down would play BF4 fine. Your GPU is in the 15th tier.
