evening ladies and gentlemen,

I have a question and as I have no kept up with PC changes in the last few years i need some help. I am trying to play Bf3 on even low settings and I can generally get around 35 FPS but i feel I should be getting a least 40-45.
Here are my specs

CPU-Quad Core Intel 2 Quad Q6600
MB- intel Desktop board DG965WH
Ram- 2x Corsair CGM2X2G800
GPU-ATI Radeon HD 4890 1024 MB

Drivers are up to date
IF it is hardware, what are possible upgrades that will work with my Motherboard? I am on a budget so cheaper is better.

IF you need any more info please ask

I have some additional information. I get really good FPS on maps like Wake or Bazaar with 45-50 fps so If I upgrade the GPU. would I get better FPS with my current mobo and CPU? Any GPU suggestions ?

possibly the gfx card but really the 4890 is a good card... maybe not as good as say a high end dx11 card but its easily better than the mid to low end dx11 cards.
no it doesnt support some dx11 features but to be honest most dx11 cards dont have the grunt to run dx11 properly without it dramatically affecting fps.
for a dx10 card it punches above its weight and to replace it with like for like but with dx11 would still put you out of pocket by 200 pounds+.
i would say just get a better cooler and overclock the q6600 to 3.0-3.3ghz and enjoy your pc for at least another 2 years then consider buying a whole new system.

sure he will he will get a huge increase from like 40 minimum on high settings to 47 minimum... all for the princely sum of £200...
he could get a 560 ti and settle for medium high settings in a game like bf3 but he will hardly be getting more fps. yeas he will get dx11 but the 560ti is a weak dx11 card so whats the point. its an old system so isnt really worth spending a huge amount of money on. yeah he could spend a fair wack on a new gfx card but by the time he swaps cpu's his gfx will be as dated as his 4890... if he can find a used gtx 580- for 170 then i would say get it if all he can find is a new 560ti for 150 then i would say forget it.

yeah the hyper will cool yer cpu fine...

I think your a bit off on this one mate your implication is his CPU cant take more than a 560ti...... his CPU overclocked can handle more than a 560ti.

£218 GTX580 If you dont like open box deals 200 notes these days gets a 560ti 448 core, not a card to be sniffed at.

I do agree with you his first step should be OC but also he should (if he can) buy a newer GPU his current is more on a standing with a current 550ti so somewhat lowend
