BF3-no sound through headphones

When I start up BF3 sound works perfectly through tv monitor, but when I plug in my Earforce X11 headset, I have to turn volume up all the way to even BARELY hear game sound...it's just annoying because I do late night gaming and hate using monitor for crappier sound...suggestions? and thanks in advance all

Are you playing with the PC version BF3 or the console version?

If PC, use the Volume Mixer on the bottom right and turn up main volume and headphone volume.

well its pc version, and when i do that it still won't be loud enough

If you go into the settings of the BF3 audio menu, there is a sound option that you can bring up the volume.

heres the actual problem, when i turn battlefield volume up in sound mixer, it automatically shuts off after like 2 seconds

Restart computer, set all your volume mixers to the middle.

Go into the actual battlefield 3 game, before you actually Deploy into the game. Hit ESC to bring up the menu. Then go to Audio, set the audio option to headphones and adjust your in-game master volume setting.

Also, try another headphone jack on your computer, if you have others.

sorry, that option didn't work...it keeps flashing every few seconds and drops to either no sound or 11 out of 100 whenever I bring it up

Have you updated your sound drivers?

all up to date, i have a driver utility that alerts me if something is out of date, so that's not an issue

Okay, I want to make sure it's not the headphones that could be malfunctioning. Do you have a plug-in speaker so you can test the sound?

Just tried, that worked...but it seems I have isolated the problem to only malfunction when I use teamspeak. I was using voice activation detection instead of just continuous talk...now i think its ok
