So I just bought a new laptop (samsung ativ book4) and it has an I5 clocked at 2.6ghz and dual graphics with the amd radeon 8750m and intel hd 4000 so my problem is that bf3 seems to be using the intel card because my gameplay is extremely lagy. Can anyone help?!?!?!

Solution
Head to the AMD catalyst control center and switch there [ I think ]

or try

Right click the game you wish to run with the card and press "Run using Radeon HD ...... "
I went to several different websites with specifications for that laptop and they only mention Intel HD 4000 as a graphics option. There's no mention of another video card at all. Even on the Samsung website, see for yourself:

http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/pcs/NP470R5E-K01UB-specs

Maybe when you were shopping for a laptop, you got confused with another model, and thinking that this one had another video card. If it's not too late bring it back to the store and get reimbursed or an exchange.

It is an ativ book 4 and it has the amd sticker and on system requirments lab it shows the 2.1gbs of dedicated video ram but on an intel card. I've also seen the amd 8750m in my device manager so I'm compelled to say that it is in here its just not being utilized any help???

ok well i have done the amd catalyst control center before and it has not worked, i switched it to high preformance and it made no change, also i tried your later and there was no option to run with a specific program. I have windows 8 if that makes a diffrence (i know that its just awful and may have that feature removed, hopefully not) plzz help me seeing as how i spent good money on this computer and it should run bf3 very well

I suppose that would be the best decision thanks im gunna call tommorow and get back to you all 😀

So I called the store (future shop) and no one answered even thow i called multiple times but is it possible that the graphics card is defective?? I've heard that apparently that's a thing with laptops and apparently relativly frequent.

please i have the same probleme did you find a solution or not yet ?

ok so i finnaly figured it out and the solution really sucks. What you have to do is do a full system whipe. Then try and switch it in catalyst control center. If it doesnt work still try and add it manually through either all aplications or browse your files and go to the actual .exe file if that still doesnt work then (i had to do it like this but it came to me coincidentally) do a full factory whipe again. I know this is a shitty way of fixing it but it worked for me, it think this is because it absolutely wipes all the file prefs. from the first star tup where you first encountered the problem, and now bf3-4-ac4 ect all run amazingly so try that and just as a test module back up bf3 (or w.e your using as a test) to an external storage BUT ONLY back up that because some other files may be causing the conflict. Please if you need any more help then feel free to contact me.

hi
i have the same prob with samsung series 5 laptop np510
with the same graphics drivers (intel 4000 and amd radeonhd 8750)
and i recovered the computer to the factory setting and what do i do next??
i tried to go the catalyst control center and what should i choose and where exaclly??
thanks

ok so if you did as i said an have your games backed up ( just so you dont have to waste time dl-ing them) then install them and try to run on default settings (preferably medium just as a control). if the fps is still terrible then check in catalyst control center for recent applications, right click any empty space on your desktop and click configure switchable graphics, then it <your game> should be under recent applications, click on both that and all aplications just to see all your games. if it appears in neither then go to your add "application..." button and browse through your files manually and select the .exe file for each game. For an origin game the path should look something like <disk letter (C,D,E, ect...)>/ program filesx86/ origin games/ <your games name one or all of them>/ <your games name/abbreviation eg.bf4> and it will either say .exe file or application under type. click than and add it then select high preformance in catalyst. save and run game again hope this helps

I have to tell you, the intelhd4000 is not a video card. It is not dedicated graphics. Therefore there is no option of running a "second video card". The only video card in your laptop is the radeonhd card. Intelhd4000 is integrated and basically runs off of your CPU.

so you are saying that the laptop always runs on the intelhd4000 and the radeon works perfectly for the programs he is needed in even if i cant see that??

Yes. The intel 4000 graphics will run the computer when he is at the home screen. When a program, like a game, starts up, the Radeon graphics card will automatically take over. (It should) and if your game is extremely laggy it could be that the gpu is still not powerful enough to handle the settings or the CPU is not strong enough.

i have the same issue,
However after a recent update of the HD 8730m graphic card i can 99% of my games on high and ultra. i am playing Bio shock infinite on Very High, Sniper Warrior 2 on High, DMC on ultra, Assassins creed black flag on high and so on..
