BF4 Graphics card $300

I would recommend the 280x or 760 in your price range (although these two cards are at the top of that range). Either card should do just fine of BF4 with high/ultra graphics. What resolution are you going to be playing at though?

Actually why not save a few bucks (50 dollars or so) and get the GTX 760 for $250, O.C it a bit and outperform the 280X which costs around $300-310!
The best possible bang for the buck is GTX 760.

And yes, let's hear your specs first.

If a hard $300 is max, there are a few 280X s a penny under at the Egg, but as they prob won't go on sale soon, except the doggy models might keep a look out for the prices on the 7970s to drop, especially since the 280X is a sllightly beefed up rebranded 7970

I'm currently running a oc'd 7970, and play bf4 everyday, and I can tell you from experience that you can play on ultra settings no problem. The only bad part about this is if your running @1080p and ultra settings, you'll need plenty of system memory to back it up or you'll get some lovely crashes due to bf4 being a memory hog. But if you play on high settings and move the resolution slider down in the video menu, you should be fine. The game looks great on high settings anyway so its no big deal. It also looks 1000% better than ps3 or xbox 360 version's on low settings XD

Yea when i built this computer didn't really think about my cpu in the future and its only 2.6ghz overclocked at 3ghz

1. If you are considering the performance of the overclocked, then consider the performance of the overclocked R9-280X too. There is no point comparing the stock 280x with an overclocked 760. When comparing both the overclocked 760 as well as the overclocked 280X, then the 280x would win between these two.

2. The 760 has 2GB VRAM v/s the 3GB VRAM on the 280x. And BF4 plays barely below the 2GB RAM mark at 1080p but as son as the VRAM utilization goes more than 2GB, then the graphics card with 2GB RAM start swapping the VRAM and hence there is a performance dip there which of course is not desirable as it can cause dropped frames.

Hence going for the 3GB VRAM makes more sense.

3. The 280x comes with 3 free games from AMD's never settle bundle. You can choose what games you want to select from 8. Wheras in Nvidia bundle, you are going to get the games that they are offering, whether you want to play those games or now.

4. The wider bus provides more memory bandwidth to the 280x. 280x has 384 bit bus which is significantly more than the one in Nvidia 760.

5. Also we also need to make sure that whether his CPU would be able to handle the high end GPUs like 760 and 280x. So, first let him tell that what is his hardware configuration first, so let the OP mention his specs, then would be the best time to suggest any hardware.

You are having the same problem as I do, now I'm planing on getting the FX 6300 and GTX 650 TI. Like I said this is a great time to get the parts because they are on sale. FX6300 is only about $119 and GTX 650 is about $150, since your budget is about $300 at most
