This computer is a friends but I am building and wiring it all for him, so for the sake of conserving words I will refer to the computer as mine.
The computer
cpu: AMD Athlon II X3 445 Rana 3.1GHz
mob: MB MSI 870A FUZION RT
ram: corsair xms3 2x2 1600 ddr3
psu: corsair hx750
gpu:gigabyte windforce gtx 770 4g

This is strictly a gaming computer.

So the issue is that my computer will not play bf4(battlefield 4) I have a new gpu(gigabyte windforce gtx770 4g) and a new psu(corsair hx 750) with all of this it is still unplayable. I believe the problem is the ancient mob and cpu. I am not sure of this but I believe that to be the problem

First question: are the mob and cpu the problem?

If this is the problem then what cpu and mob should I get I am thinking the budget is some where around 400 and will buy it in the next month and a half. My first thoughts after reading the forums and researching is a
cpu: Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge

mob:ASUS P8Z77-V PRO LGA 1155

I am not sure if the 4670k is worth it. I will eventually do overclocking on the cpu and gpu. I still have to learn how but avidly what to learn. Sli might be an option in the future but only up to two. I know that this board has dual x8 which isn't the best but it is good enough. It also has decent features and overclocks ok, but I am still learning and don't know how good my info is.
I am set on and intel and it has to allow OC. I would like an asus or gigabyte board because they are good quality and i have good experiences with asus. I know asrock has some good stuff but there quality control and features are a little rough.

Second question: is the i5-3570k and asus p8z77-v pro a good choice? If not then what should I get?

When overclocking I am not sure what I should use for cooling. I have heard that the corsair h100i is a good closed loop water cooler. (I have a cooler master hyper 212 for my personal computer.) Space is not an issue I have a nzxt 630 full tower case. Also wanted some good links on how to or info about open loop water coolers.

Third question: (in the future) What should I use for cooling the cpu when overclocking?

Thank you for taking the time to read this if I am not clear about anything or you need more info let me know.

Agreed. The Extreme4 is a great motherboard for the price
the cpu is a major issue, as is the ram. CPU upgrade to an fx6300 or 8350 may be possible if that motherboard supports it, you would have to check the manufacturers cpu support list. and you really need 8gb ram for smooth gameplay.
If you wanted to go intel there isnt much difference between the 3570 and 4670, the 4670 is slightly faster if your budget allows.

Definitely has to be intel. With that in mind would you go 3570k or 4670k. A lot of people don't like the new haswell stuff but they do seem to have a better variety for mob's. What ram would you get? (my personal computer has G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB)

I would prefer the asus over asrock just on wanting to avoid RAM issues if it is dead or dies prematurely.

What are acceptable temps for an over clock of 4.5 on and i5 (also i have an amd 8350 what are acceptable temps on that, I always thought over 70C what bad.)

probably because the asrock boards are more popular, so you will likely get more problems reported, but yeah, as a ratio, probably not much difference. Im extremely happy with my asrock board, insane value for money.
