BFG 6800 GT & NV Silencer 5

I've heard that the BFG and PNY card's can't regulate voltage. Although idon't see why, they are both based on reference design and when i used the 1.4v modded BIOS i was able to get my horrible 380/1030 up to 405/1100. I don't necessarily believe that either as i've seen several peeps with BFG GT's running at 410~425 on aftermarket air cooling. But then I had to flash back cause there was WAAYY to much heatbuildup. I started to get artifacts after about 45 minutes of play. It only happened over time, so i'm assuming a heat issue as the stock cooler sucks. Anyhow, how do the NV Silencer 5 Rev2's do in cooling the GT's?

Congratulations you got new revision that can handle it. Too bad most people didn't. I think the stockcooler handles at least a good 420 no problem, but of course if your room temp's too high then VGA silencer is your only real choice as aftermarket cooling. Of course there's always the option of using CPU cooling on GPU and watercooling, but the VGA silencer will lower the card's temp by a good 7-10C.

What can your card overclock to before flashing? Was the 380/1030 as high as it'll go before u flashed? And this normally doesn't do anything, but sometimes raising VAGP to 1.65-1.7 may help a little bit on overclocking, but if it doesn't just turn it back down.

I think the reason why it's crashing is because of that 1100 on the ram, you didn't adjust the voltage on the ram, therefore it doesn't make any sense why it should gain from a increase in GPU voltage. Try running the card at 410/1000 and see how it goes.

I did the voltmod to the GPU and the Mem. But i can't remember how i did it to the mem. I have a BIOS moded i created with omniextremeedit that runs it at 1.4v. And the card runs fine witht that. It autodetects at 398/1050 currently without the voltmod, but it starts to get stretched textures after a half an hour(when the heat gets up to 85c). With the voltmod i think it max detected at 401 with older drivers, so it will probably do 405~410 with these as they detect higher. I have one of the Original BFG GT's, this was when they first came out and had the reference cooler, then they came out with the two fan design that sucked even worse, then they went back. I think the two fan design, which was what most people had is the one that doesn't handle the voltages. Mine seemed fine running at 1.4v. And it locked up when i tryed 1.5v, so it must be getting the volts, otherwise if it wasn't then 1.5v wouldn't make a difference. Overvolting can cause lockups and such, at least i've had that happend when ocing my P4 i used to have(my current system is the one in the specs below).
