hi all, so i jumped on a bfg 6800gt when i saw one in stock and now im a bit worried. I hear this rumor its gonna toast :) So what ya all think, i have huge air cooling going on in the comp but do i need to go liquid? i really dont want to do that if this card stock will be ok (bfg stock that is) Has anyone had and experience with these cards, i know there real new so info might be a bit limited i guess. any info would be great!! thanks in advance!

They run cooler than the 5800/5900 series, and Nvidia's partners aren't retarded, they're not gonna put on stock cooling that's gonna kill their own card, so whoever told you that is retarded.

Great, thats good to hear, I was little worried but I assumed bfg wouldnt make a card that would melt down. That wouldnt equate to high sales! It gets a little warm where the comp sits but thats like 10 days a year here in MN. Today i was 90 degrees in the comp room 🙁 That gets me a little concerned, but the fans were not at max speed so i hope all is well.
Thanks much for the info!!!

kinda hard to equate to high sales when they have a high replacement cost as I beleve they have lifetime warantee on all their cards.

But then again, nice quiet water cooling is nothing to frown at either =)

They are running hot for alot of reviewers. 80c at Digit-Life ; To check the temperature mode, we run the card (without overclocking) using no additional external cooling. RivaTuner showed that the core could heat up to 80°C. .

But I wouldn't worry about them frying, they'll just make the environment of the rest of the case a little less hospitable over time.

- You need a licence to buy a gun, but they'll sell anyone a stamp (or internet account) ! - RED GREEN GA to SK

Better than the 5800, which likes to work at around 100C during load even with 2 casefans.
