BFG ?

I have collected a lot of ammo for a gun (bfg ?) that I do not have yet. I
have just started Hell, and there is more of this ammo laying around. Did I
miss this gun somewhere, or is it yet to be found?

Depends how far you are in 'Hell'. I believe you get one after
defeating an assortment of HellKnights/Babies/Mancubus. Don't want to
get to much away but I ran like hell by the Mancubus and noticed a
plasma gun just before I was transported somewhere else. If the ammo
is blue its for the plasmagun, if its green its for the BFG.

You should have picked one up after defeating the monster version of
Sarge -- the guy with the human upper body and tank-like lower body.

There is one in hell too but you have to look carefully for it.

You missed 2 before hell.
One in the security officers room (there is mention of it in one of the PDA
messages, and you can see it through the window) and one in a martianbuddy
locker. Near the end of the hell level there is one hidden (near one of
theose transporter platforms), it will help with the guardian.
This was on Veteran level.

Thanks to all who responded with help.
The weapon BFG originated with Quake2, where it was described as Big F***'n
Gun. The term seemed to
catch on and other game makers started using BFG to describe the baddest
weapon you have. It usually also means that you can also take yourself out
if you use it close up.

wrong - the BFG9000 started in Doom2, or maybe even doom1. It was carried
from Doom2 to Quake, along with the supershotgun, chaingun et al...man do I
miss
the railgun in D3 ! hehe...In Quake 2 you can use the BFG to do a 'BFG
Jump', and get to
hidden spots or otherwise inaccessible areas. It also says somewhere in the
Doom2
text, "don't waste it on imps"...

If I remember it right, BFG originated in Doom.

A railgun in D3 would be schweet. In fact, it looks like someone's working
on a mod right now that actually has a railgun, Doom3 Fortress.

That is after you come back from Hell, because you have the soul cube
(unless your on nightmare I suppose).
