Big Catalyst Review at AMD-Insight

Anywhoo, just thought you guys could use a little info for the Catalyst 4.6s, at least it's something;

A bunch of benchies with a bunch of drivers.

It is in German, but pretty self explanitory for the most part.

Use babel if you REALLY need to grasp what they are saying. I would post a translated link, but no time.

Thx, I'll have to look that over. First impression was that it seems to help AA/AF performance compared to the Cat 4.1's I use. I also like to see that the test system is slower than mine.

There is an English version of it :

It's tricky to use words like AMD or Intel in a signature some users could think your are biased.

4.6 Catalysts are probably the best version i have used in a while. especially for performance. but, theres an old game that I play that doesnt work 100% with these drivers. all shadows/smoke seem to get converted to a low-quality texture (and i mean LOW quality) once they are a certain radius from the centre of view, when i used AF. kinda wierd, it looks like some sort of compression, because of the blockiness/tiles that it makes

I just finished reading the article and I must admit that you have STRONG competition!

Your ATI Catalyst performance comparison posts looks outdated compared to this article! But keep working! There will lots of CFL match this summer to continue your testing!

Hey thanks, you know I looked for something like english version or a UK flag, but nadda.

Cool, thanx again.

EDIT: As for competition... HEY, C'mon I do it on MY time!

Anywhoo, I'll be the first to admit I've been a little lacking in the review update, I've been really busy with a new product roll-out at work, and there's been something else here recently that's killed too much of my time, so I didn't get done what I wanted. But I will update soon.

What game is it that does that (if you say CS I'm gonna send little muchkins to kick you in the nutz! )?

I'm currently using the 4.6, and it works well with UT2K4 and Morrowind, but that's all I've played it with recently.

its called "Rune"

:)

based off the original UT engine. really fun game, but old now.. theres a niche group of peopel that still play online, including me..

nothing like skilled, coordinated melee battle.. this game requires SKILL to play, unlike most first person shooters. of course the game modes leave somethign to be desired, as theres deathmatch, deathmatch, and er, deathmatch that you can play online, but like i said its an old game

I have seen RUNE (Always thought it was RHUNE, but I guess I was always distracted by the cool warrior on the fron of the box), I've mainly seen it in Discount piles/boxes, maybe I'll pick it up, I do have the original UT, which I use to play a friend who has intergrated graphics on his 1ghz PIII P.O.S.

And yeah, deathmatch, and only deathmatch gets boring, in fact with UT2K4 I almost never leave onslaught, it made it worth buying for me (I avoided UT2K3 because it had no similar mode).

if you were to play it today for the first time, you would be like "um, ok this is ghey"

but multiplayer is where its at. nothing as precise and skillful as the deathmatches in that game
