Big difference between Single and Dual Channels?

I was hoping to put my laptop into Dual Channel Memory like I did with my desktop and my previous laptop, but unfortunately, I've hit a snag, mostly due to not using the correct slot (Not much choice since the other two slots are either buried in the hardware or blocked by the copper pipes of the heatsink) So I'm stuck with both 8GB Sticks in Single Channel Mode.

But regardless, I'd like to know if there's any difference to running Single and Dual channel in a gaming scenario. I know it makes a big difference for video editing and such, but what about for gaming? Is there any difference in performance at all other than the expanded memory size? Or is it so small I won't even notice it?
