Big drive problem

ok heres the symtoms docs:

had luvverly windoze98 on my pc, never had to reinstall it

decided last week to put windoze2000 on so that i could use more 3d apps

2k continually died on me and after my 5th reinstall of it i decided to go back to good old 98

problem is the nt file system didnt let me install it straight away, and 2000 has not got a dos os thats any good

then suddenly it wouldnt recognise my c: drive anymore

so i put the drive as a slave in another pc, and the c:\ partition was 0bytes (should be 10 gig) and d:\ was 10gig

i took the drive to my bro and he tried formatting c: from his pc, which worked

but this is where the problem lies...

i now have an extra partition for some reason after we formatted c:\ and d:\

so ive got c:\(0bytes) d:\(10gig) and e:\(10 gig)

i cant get rid of c:\ and i cant install windoze on a drive that has 0 capacity

i tried fdisk but it seems to freeze before i can do anything to the partition

anyone got any ideas of what i can do cos i need my pc back alive for the weekend

check www.shogoninja.freeserve.co.uk/drives.gif to see what i mean

ta in advance

you are going to need to run fdisk, or some other partioning program. run fdisk say yes to the large disk support. then on the main menu press 4 (that will give you a look at your disk sturcture just for intrest) now delete all your partitions, then create whatever stucture you want, format them and you are good to go again.

You can download a drive partitioning program from the drive manufacturer. What I would do is use the program to "write zeros to the drive", that gets rid of everything, then run fdisk from a windows 98 bootdisk, then format.

Suicide is painless...........
