Anyone been watching the 'Wild Britain' nightly shows with Bill Oddie?

Would have been nice if they could mention the conservation benefits
of shooting and stalking - e.g. on the bits on Roe Deer.

However, everything forgiven for the absolutely incredible slow-motion
footage they showed tonight of a Peregrine hunting feral pigeons in a
quarry.

Dream on - Bill's a 200% Ain't animals fluffy, isn't that badger
being slightly silly, but isn't nature an itsy witsy bit cruel kinda
bloke.

Disappointing, however, that Simon "Let's give every animal a friendly
name and I've been studying peregrines all my life" Knig was
repeatedly caught reading from the notes he was doing his best to hide
behind various bits of set dressing.

Birds and bees I can watch hereabouts, it's the opportunity for some
serious Kate Humble observation which gets my vote.

Caught the odd bit, but not really watched it.
Did laugh at the Deadringers sketch though, "Bill" decided to do the
observation Big Brother style. The badgers in set 1 failed to
complete their task so "Bill" gassed them.
Perhaps there is a job a Defra waiting for Bill?

I can't stand Humble though, too much head wiggling....

He's actually more or a realist than that, in my experience, but from
the absence of comment about not just deer, but grey squirrel and ruddy
duck, both of which appeared last night, I would assume that the
producer has decided what he wants the tone of the programmes to be and
that is clearly not to make it an "issues" series of programmes.

He's been reading notes right from the start, including on Bass Rock. I
didn't get the impression he was trying to hide them, just glancing down
rather a lot making sure he had his facts right. Both Bill and Kate have
notes in their hands, too, but are perhaps better than Simon at
memorising them inbetween to-camera pieces.

Did you see Dead Ringers immediately after last night's wildlife
programme? It had a pretty good take off of Bill and a wonderful one of
Kate 🙂)

My point was rather that he'd been given the build-up of a life-long
observer of the species. I've only beeen shooting a Lee Enfield for a
couple of years but I can spout on and on and on and on...........

Yes, some people can do that! Perhaps Simon wanted to make sure he had
his facts exactly right 🙂)

And suitably cruel - not least to the badgers!

Permission to lower the tone a tad lower than
any of those badgers would dig?

Gyppo, I've reached the age where, if the other end's wiggling, I'm
fully preoccupied and don't have spare senses with which to do any
watching!!

Ah yes, that did occur to me after I posted!
Such a scenario would also have the advantage that you wouldn't have
to listen to her inane yap either...
