Shipping 250,000 new boxes when you cant actually cope with current demand
and then instigating a character transfer programme that relies on the same
account management system is not the best policy I would suggest.

In fact, it smacks of gross stupidity interlaced with more than a dash of
greed.

Oh, and you need to top that all off with a customer support structure that
doesn't provide support during times of highest demand.

Thousands, if not tens of thousands, of customers will be affected by this
the longer it goes on. As people's pre-paid time runs out they will all find
themselves in the same situation. Of course the WoW forums don't tell the
full story either as, unless you have access to a secondary functional
account, you can't even post there. By some accounts some customers have
been unable to access account management for 3 days now.

It is staggering incompetence, truly. Then you get all those that can play
accusing people of being whiners "you don't have to pay" their mantra is
"give it up if you don't like it". Well, I've got news for them, the box
itself costs in excess of £30 before you've even paid a subscription and as
it happens I do like the game itself, a lot, if I didn't I wouldn't be
motivated to write this. It's the customer that stinks. For the initial
outlay alone you are entitled to a functioning product - if it was a TV you
wouldn't hesitate to take it back to the shops. Perhaps someone in the UK
should test the consumer laws and try and return a copy as it is not fit for
the purpose for which it was sold. And before any one leaps to Blizzard's
defence and says we all signed the T&C's - you simply cannot supersede
consumer rights with small print. If a game is sold as being played on the
internet you should be able to do that - small print regardless - 2 or 3
days down time is unacceptable, full stop

I had this same problem and it turned out to be a prob with NTL's
transparent proxy. I had to talk to them about it to get it sorted.

Forgot to say if your using NTL broadband the easiest way to contact them is
by using broadband medic which you can download from their website from the
broadband menu. Just install it and follow the onscreen prompts, at the end
of the test it'll give you the option to talk to a techy online.
